Our Mission
We are a theatre company dedicated to the art in theatre and the theatrical in art. We celebrate the innovative, the provocative, the poetic. We are a theatre of image, word, and gesture. We seek texts that are issue-driven and inventive. As a theatrical laboratory, we explore, engage, and examine. As a theatrical training program, we nurture and challenge the theatre artists of the future. Cal Rep is committed not only to the survival, but to the evolution of theatre.

Cal Rep is currently recruiting MFA candidates in Acting, Directing, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, and Costume Design, and MFA/MBA candidates in Theatre Management for Fall 2012. For further information contact Artistic Director Joanne Gordon or click here.
CSU Long Beach and Cal Rep will be attending URTA auditions in New York and Chicago. We will also hold MFA in Performance (Acting/Directing) auditions on Saturday, February 11th on campus at CSULB. All candidates should bring a résumé and statement of purpose, plus be prepared to teach a 10 minute activity (students will be provided.) Acting candidates should have 2 contrasting monologues (maximum 4 minutes total.) Directing candidates, bring a directing prompt book.
Undergraduate Theatre Alumnus Ben Graney made his Broadway debut this year in War Horse, the Tony Award-winning play at Lincoln Center Theater. He will perform through January 2012.

Cal Rep alum Dr. Baron Kelly has been named to the Fulbright Specialist Program and awarded a grant at the University of Lodz, Poland, to present lectures and lead graduate seminars on multiculturalism and diversity in the European Union. This is the third Fulbright Award that Dr. Kelly has won.
